A slight setback

Today’s post makes me wonder how often I’ve given up on challenges.  Teaching degree, master’s degrees in English and education, writing a book, my new reading challenge…  Well, I’m not really giving up on my new reading challenge, just postponing it a bit.

You see, I already possess many books I could be reading instead.  Books I’ve never read before.  Books in my bookcase at home, in the trunk of my car, in my bookcase at work, in my bedroom closet at my parents’ house.  I also have over 1200 books on my nook.  Yes, I’m starting to realize that I have a problem.

The fact that I have all of these books, coupled with the idea of moving (if everything goes well) in six months, has me panicking a little bit.  I really don’t want to move that many books (did I mention that my husband has quite a few of his own?).  So, the new challenge is to read the books I have — keeping those that I own and love, finding new homes for those I own and don’t like so much, and returning those I borrowed from my mother-in-law.

And, hopefully, I can put an end to the hoarding…er…collecting.
